Snow expected tonight across New York and New Jersey: Forecast, totals, alerts
A quick-moving storm is expected to bring the first meaningful snowfall of the season to New York and New Jersey tonight, with most of the snow falling between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures have stayed cold enough this morning for moderate to heavy snow which has made for plenty of snow covered and slushy roads across central New York.
And while snow may begin to fall on the city as early as 7 p.m. Saturday, the steadiest snowfall is expected to come down in the overnight hours. At some point before 10 a.m. Sunday, snowfall rates are likely to reach half an inch per hour before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.
